The ARM Group is looking for a “Tool & Die Engineer” for one of our clients in Charleston, SC

About this Role
This role is ideal for an engineer with strong expertise in tooling design, die maintenance, process improvement, and manufacturing support within a high-volume production environment.
You will work closely with production, quality, and maintenance teams to optimize tooling performance, improve uptime, and support new product launches while ensuring world-class quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and improve tooling, dies, fixtures, and gauges for manufacturing operations.
- Troubleshoot tooling-related issues to minimize downtime and improve production efficiency.
- Coordinate preventive and predictive maintenance programs for dies and tooling.
- Analyze die failures and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Support die tryouts, validation, and production launches for new programs.
- Collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams to resolve manufacturing challenges.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on tool life, cycle time reduction, and scrap reduction.
- Maintain tooling documentation, engineering drawings, BOMs, and revision records.
- Work with external tool shops and vendors for tooling modifications and new tool development.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and manufacturing standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Tool Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in Tool & Die Engineering within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience supporting high-volume production operations.
- Strong knowledge of metal stamping, die casting, machining, or automotive tooling.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, or similar.
- Experience with GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and engineering drawings.
- Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Automotive manufacturing experience.
- Experience with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, and Lean Manufacturing.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience managing tooling suppliers and tool build projects.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and engineering change management.
