Role:
Pressure Die Casting (PDC) Supervisor willoversee daily production operations in a high-volume manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in aluminium pressure die casting, strong leadership skills, and the ability to drive productivity, quality, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily operations within the Pressure Die Casting (PDC) or Mill department.
- Lead and motivate production associates to achieve daily production targets while maintaining quality standards.
- Ensure safe operation of pressure die casting machines, melting furnaces, trimming presses, and supporting equipment.
- Monitor machine utilization, downtime, cycle times, scrap rates, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Troubleshoot production issues and coordinate with Maintenance, Tool Room, and Quality teams to minimize downtime.
- Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and quality management systems.
- Monitor casting defects and implement corrective actions to reduce rejection and improve process capability.
- Maintain production schedules and coordinate manpower allocation across shifts.
- Support die changeovers, process setup verification, and first-piece approvals.
- Conduct daily shift meetings and communicate production goals, safety updates, and operational priorities.
- Ensure adherence to 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate production reports, shift logs, downtime records, and performance metrics.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Quality teams during new product launches and process improvements.
- Train, coach, and develop operators and technicians to improve performance and skill levels.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and environmental regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Pressure Die Casting or aluminum casting manufacturing.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of high-pressure die casting processes, molten metal handling, trimming, and finishing operations.
- Experience working with automated die casting cells, robotic operations, and casting process controls.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret production specifications.
- Strong understanding of casting defects, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, TPM, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and production reporting systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in automotive or Tier 1 manufacturing.
- Familiarity with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and quality management systems.
- Knowledge of aluminum alloys, die maintenance coordination, and process optimization.
- Experience with SAP, ERP, or Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
