BARS Technical Team Manager

Salary: $85k

Summary:

The BARS Technical Team Manager is responsible for providing operational and technical supervision for the operational and maintenance functions of the Soap Production area. The role leads the production shift, supports daily production plans, maintains product quality, drives troubleshooting and root cause analysis, coordinates preventive maintenance, develops team members, and improves key business metrics including safety, quality, reliability, and cost.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the entire shift, including hourly production and maintenance employees.
  • Execute the daily production plan for the assigned shift.
  • Ensure consistent product quality across production lines.
  • Monitor and report daily and batch-level waste and yield.
  • Provide daily technical support for operational and equipment issues.
  • Lead team members through root cause and equipment failure analysis.
  • Identify and execute corrective actions, temporary solutions, and permanent solutions.
  • Drive innovation and improvements in manufacturing processes and work systems.
  • Communicate daily shift results through verbal and written reports.
  • Train employees on safety requirements, including applicable OSHA training.
  • Develop skill acquisition and assessment plans for Line Lead Mechanics.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance teams to support execution of Preventive Maintenance.
  • Lead team-development initiatives focused on safety, quality, reliability, and cost.
  • Ensure effective implementation of 5S throughout the BARS production area.
  • Support cross-functional teams in production, maintenance, quality, and operational problem solving.
  • Respond to urgent and emergency production or equipment situations as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a technical field or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of production and/or maintenance supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising 5 or more production or maintenance employees.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting manufacturing equipment and production-line issues.
  • Experience with high-speed manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience developing, training, and mentoring production or maintenance employees.
  • Experience coordinating with Maintenance teams on Preventive Maintenance activities.
  • Experience leading root cause analysis and equipment failure investigations.
  • Strong planning, organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to independently facilitate teams through troubleshooting and problem-solving activities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, overtime, and respond to emergencies outside normal working hours as required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Technical Skills

  • Mechanical troubleshooting and equipment maintenance.
  • Electrical systems and troubleshooting.
  • High-speed equipment timing and synchronization.
  • Experience with filling equipment.
  • Experience with multi-packers and case packers.
  • Equipment failure analysis and root cause analysis.
  • Preventive and corrective maintenance coordination.
  • General machining processes, including material selection and fabrication.
  • Knowledge of scale systems.
  • Working knowledge of 5S principles.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to analyze production performance, waste, yield, reliability, and other operational metrics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of high-speed equipment timing, filling equipment, multi-packers, and case packers.
  • Intermediate technical knowledge of machining and fabrication processes.
  • Experience with scale systems.
  • Experience facilitating teams and leading problem-solving activities.
  • Experience with team building and employee development.
  • Previous experience working in a union labor environment.
  • Experience with continuous improvement, Lean Manufacturing, TPM, or similar manufacturing improvement practices.
