Direct superior: Plant Engineering Manager
Purpose of the Job:
- The Client is looking for an experienced project manager who will primarily be responsible for managing engineering projects at various stages and spanning the lifecycle of assets at our site. The scope of projects may include critical production processes, systems, utilities, and structures and may range from $1M to $100M projects.
- The project manager role is being established by our organization due to an increasing need for a systematic and coordinated approach when facilitating stakeholders and subject matter experts throughout new equipment installations, modifications and upgrades, and removals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Select and utilize the right tools and techniques for efficient and effective project management.
- Creating long- and short-term plans
- Identify the roles and responsibilities required by each project.
- Create and maintain detailed project documentation.
- Define, measure, and monitor project management success metrics.
- Coach stakeholders and team members regarding project management best practices, if required
- Work with site leadership to manage project priorities and resource commitments across all active projects.
- Work with site leadership to identify barriers, constraints, and effective solutions across all active projects.
- Develop a strategy to engage and inform project sponsors throughout the project.
- Be aware of the industry’s best practices, techniques, and standards, and encourage team members to incorporate them during project execution.
- Facilitate definition and documentation of project scope and supporting materials.
- Define, measure, and monitor project success metrics.
- Undertake risk management to minimize potential risks.
- Perform stakeholder identification and analysis to include internal and external resources, conduct impact analyses, and assess change readiness.
- Elicitation of deliverables and objectives for each project to include the creation of a strategy to support the adoption of the changes required by a project or initiative.
- Elicit and document the requirements, design, and delivery of training programs associated with the project.
- Elicit and document the requirements for the design, development, delivery, and management of key communications.
- Prepare and manage adherence to a project budget.
- Estimate resource requirements, acquire them effectively, and manage them efficiently.
- Form teams; including internal and external resources and subject matter experts.
- Provide project management practices and tools training and coaching for team members, if needed
- Facilitate the definition of work tasks and the corresponding selection and assignment of the most appropriate resources.
- Developing and adjusting project schedules to adhere to deadlines.
- Track project performance to ensure both short-term and long-term goals are met.
- Manage interdepartmental coordination to ensure successful project execution.
- Provide project updates to stakeholders via the most appropriate form, communication method, and frequency to manage the project effectively.
- Create and manage contracts with suppliers and vendors, ensuring timely deliveries.
- Ensure project delivery is on time, as per scope, and within the allocated budget.
- Assess executed projects to identify lessons learned and project management improvement opportunities.
- Develop standards and quality controls for project management architecture.
Professional Experience:
- Proven experience (three to five years minimum) in managing projects of comparable size and type as the accountable project manager.
- PMP – Project Management Professional (or similar) certification desirable
- CCMP – Certified Change Management Professional (or similar) certification desirable
- MOC – Management of Change certification is desirable.
Education and Technical Skills Profile:
- Highly proficient in standard Microsoft applications (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Project and Microsoft Planner
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Power BI
- Good working knowledge of SAP (Plant Maintenance (PM), Materials Management (MM), Production Planning (PP), Project Systems (PS))
- Robust knowledge of project management frameworks and best practices
- A solid understanding of change management, processes, frameworks, and best practices
- Experience with and knowledge of project and change management principles, methodologies, and tools.
- Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and root-cause identification skills.
- Capable of developing plans, schedules, strategies, and tactics
- Capable of facilitating brainstorming and decision-making
- Leadership of large and small cross-functional teams
- Risk analysis and management capabilities.
- Highly effective communication skills at all organizational levels, both written and verbal
- Understanding of organizational issues and challenges
- Capable of coaching sponsors, team members, and stakeholders

- Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent experience
Environment and Behavioral Profile:
- Must be able to interface with others at all levels, from executive to hourly.
- Must be available to support 24/7/365 manufacturing operations.
- Must be able to effectively manage technical associates from Engineers to technicians.

- Team members will be exposed to loud noise that may exceed eighty-seven decibels.
- Team members must be able to complete tasks under extremely hot climate temperatures internally on the shop floor, which can exceed 110 degrees F.
- The Team Member will be subjected to all environmental elements such as exposure to high/low temperatures, sun/rain, confined spaces etc.
Linguistic Profile:
- The Client embraces the diversity of languages, but most, if not all, communication verbal and written is preferred in English to successfully complete the appropriate scope of work.
- Command on German is a plus.
Mobility and Physical Requirement Profile:
- Role-based in the US, Barnwell, SC.
- This job is in a manufacturing environment.
- Travel up to 5%. Ability to travel on short notice.
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk; and use hands/fingers.
- This is a full-time position, and general hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. This a leadership position which requires extended hours and weekend work, as needed.
