Position Overview
As a Mechanical Systems Fabricator, you will be at the forefront of building innovative water treatment and chemical dosing systems, contributing to impactful projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. System Assembly [40%]
- Bring technical drawings to life by assembling assigned projects with precision.
- Ensure the mechanical assembly functions optimally, focusing on system flow and structural layout.
- Reporting directly to the Mechanical Shop Supervisor or Director of Production, you’ll play a vital role in the team.
2. System Fabrication [30%]
- Take charge of fabrication on the shop floor, meeting production schedules and contributing to exciting new projects.
- Adapt to changing priorities as needed, ensuring custom fabrications are completed on time.
3. Technical Application of Build [15%]
- Uphold the highest standards of Quality Control (QC) by continuously reviewing technical documents.
- Provide feedback on mechanical design when needed, and leverage your expertise to ensure systems are built to exact specifications.
4. Machining [10%]
- Utilize your machining skills to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, tapping, and cutting.
- Work primarily with PVC/CPVC and 316SS materials, contributing to the assembly of top-tier systems.
5. QA/QC and Technical Document Support [5%]
- Ensure build accuracy by meticulously documenting necessary changes to technical drawings.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring materials and components are correctly used and serialized where required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; technical classes/courses are a plus.
- Hands-on experience as an Apprentice, Journeyman, or Master Craftsman is preferred.
- Previous experience in the water treatment or fluids industry is highly valued.
- Proficient in interpreting mechanical technical prints and industrial documents.
- Familiarity with ANSI/ASTM standards and experience in PVC/CPVC and stainless-steel tubing assembly.
- At least 3-5 years of experience using standard mechanical tools like wrenches, saws, and drills.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and a solid understanding of PPE requirements.
- Basic math skills and proficiency with measuring devices are essential.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience with manufacturing equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Apprentice, Journeyman, or Master Craftsman certification preferred.
Working Hours and Overtime Opportunities:
- Enjoy a consistent schedule from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break to recharge.
- If you’re someone who thrives during busy periods, you’ll appreciate the chance to earn extra during our 4th quarter. This is a high-demand time with near-mandatory overtime, where your hours will extend from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm. This is a great opportunity to boost your earnings while contributing to a critical phase of production.
Working Conditions
- This role involves standing on the shop floor, where you’ll have access to a large workstation and toolbox.
- Work in a climate-controlled environment with some exposure to manufacturing noise and conditions.
- Adherence to OSHA lifting standards and proper use of PPE is mandatory.
- Expect a 40-50 hour workweek, with the potential for overtime up to 10-hour days.
