Electric Distribution Designer

Job Description:  

The ARM Group LLC is hiring a Full-Time Electric Distribution Designer to support a leading client in Georgetown, TX.

Overview:

  • This role involves producing electric distribution field designs, staking facilities, project estimation, and preparing construction prints.
  • The designer will work using electronic design/estimation software to meet client construction standards and specifications.

#Salary Range: $70,000.00 – $85,000.00/Annually (Based On Experience)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design both overhead and underground electric distribution facilities (4kV to 35kV).
  • Perform line design calculations (structure loading, guying, conductor sag, etc.).
  • Prepare cost estimates, work instructions, and construction sketches using design/estimation software.
  • Represent the company professionally during property owner meetings and with external engineering and construction teams.
  • Mentor and train junior staff.
  • Work outdoors in various conditions, carry surveying tools, and stake distribution facilities.
  • Travel (up to five nights) and work extended hours as needed.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and electric distribution design software.
  • Ability to multi-task, manage time, and meet project deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with both overhead and underground distribution designs.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Associate’s degree or certificate in Electric Power Technology or 3+ years’ experience in electric distribution design.
  • Familiarity with NESC, electric distribution systems, and joint construction best practices.
  • Experience using surveying equipment and collecting geospatial data.
  • Knowledge of property deed research, ROW staking, and permit acquisition processes.
  • Familiarity with TxDOT, City, County, and Federal permit procedures.

Schedule & Benefits:

  • 10-hour workdays, 40 hours/week (Mon-Thurs), with overtime as needed.
